Terms of Service

Last updated: 28 June 2026

These terms govern your use of TalkToLaTeX: the website, the "try it out" demo, the desktop app, and the browser extension (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to them.

1. The Service

TalkToLaTeX converts dictated speech into LaTeX using third-party speech-to-text and AI models. The Service is currently in beta: features may change, break, or be withdrawn, and availability is not guaranteed.

2. Accounts

Some features require an account. You agree to provide an accurate email address, to keep your credentials secure, and to be responsible for activity under your account. You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your country to create one.

3. The free demo and usage limits

The website demo and the app apply rate limits and a daily quota to keep the Service available and to control costs. You agree not to circumvent these limits or the human-verification check, for example by scripting requests, rotating IP addresses, or otherwise automating access. We may change the limits at any time.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service for anything unlawful, or to dictate content you don't have the right to process;
  • attempt to overload, probe, reverse-engineer, or disrupt the Service or its abuse protections;
  • resell or redistribute the Service, or use it to build a competing product, without our permission;
  • use the Service to generate harmful, infringing, or abusive content.

5. Your content and output

You keep all rights to what you dictate and to the LaTeX the Service produces for you, and it's yours to use freely. You grant us only the limited permission needed to process your speech and deliver the output (including sending it to our processors as described in the Privacy Policy). We claim no ownership of your work.

6. Our intellectual property

The Service itself (its software, design, branding, and content) belongs to us and is protected by intellectual-property laws. These terms don't grant you any rights to it beyond using the Service as intended.

7. Third-party services

The Service depends on third parties (including OpenAI, Anthropic, Cloudflare, and Google). Your use may also be subject to their terms, and we are not responsible for their acts, omissions, or availability.

8. AI output: accuracy disclaimer

Speech recognition and AI conversion are imperfect. The LaTeX the Service produces may contain errors, may not compile, or may not reflect what you intended. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying any output before relying on it. Do not use the Service as your sole source for anything where an error would be costly.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, TalkToLaTeX will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, profits, or work, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service. Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits, in which case they apply to the extent permitted.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms or to protect the Service. Provisions that by their nature should survive (such as sections 5–10) will survive termination.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product evolves. We'll revise the "last updated" date above, and continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [your jurisdiction], without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and any disputes will be handled by the courts located there.

14. Contact

Note: TalkToLaTeX is in active beta. These terms are provided for transparency and are not legal advice. Replace the bracketed governing-law jurisdiction and have the document reviewed by a qualified professional before relying on it.
